Marea Newroz MA, LPCC, R-DMT

Marea Newroz is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in Minnesota, Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Massachusetts and a Registered Dance/Movement therapist (R-DMT).  She worked as an outpatient therapist in a community-based mental health clinic on the East Coast before moving to Minnesota and joining Lilium Center.

Marea’s therapeutic approach strives to meet each client where they are at by building a collaborative therapeutic relationship. She particularly enjoys working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and identity exploration. She utilizes an integrative approach that pulls in techniques from cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and dance/movement therapy to help clients build up their toolkits and find creative approaches while holding recognition for the connection between mind and body.

Her approach is centered in the belief that each client is their own expert and the therapist acts a curious guide and companion, assisting the client in uncovering clarity and overcoming obstacles. Marea is committed to working with clients in the individual therapeutic setting while maintaining an awareness of the systemic factors influencing those experiencing marginalization and oppression, with particular interest in providing space for those within the LGBTQ+ community.

In her free time, Marea enjoys spending time with her partner and cat, kayaking, puzzling, and making ice cream.
